The Village Apartments "Gems of Bequia"

 Things To Do___

Activities on Bequia are generally centered around the sea.

Scuba diving- and snorkeling is available from the islands two dive shops located very nearby. If you've never tried scuba before now is a good time to partake of the sport in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Why not do the course work at home and your qualification dives in Bequia? Contact the Dive Shops for more information and to experience our healthy reef system.

Sailing- is a fun way to explore the Grenadines at your own pace. Day sail trips are available from several boats operating out of Bequia or take a trip to the Tobago Cays for a snorkel aboard the local schooner Friendship Rose. Trips of several days or longer are also available as are motor boat trips for exploring nearby uninhabited islands.

Beaches- For the visiting traveler there are numerous beaches from remote hike-in locations to beautiful stretches of sand with small beach bars/restaurants. One thing they all have in common is a lack of crowds. Sundays at Lower Bay are a chance to join the local population in a little relaxation and reverie to cap off the week. Lower Bay and Princess Margaret beaches have chair rentals as well as wind surfers at Lower Bay. Take one of the water taxis from the dingy docks near The Village Apartments. The waters are usually calm and perfect for children. Take along your mask and have a snorkel with the colorful fishes!

Hiking- is an activity enjoyed by many on Bequia as a way to explore the more out of the way areas of the island and to meet new people. Remote beaches and wonderful island views await the intrepid hiker. Ask at the Tourism Office in the harbor for suggestions as well as guides if you'd prefer local knowledge with your hike.

Fishing- can be done by contacting one of several charter boats. In season you might catch Mahi-Mahi, kingfish, sail and swordfish as well as marlin. Barracuda, and various tuna are also caught. Shore fishing isn't popular, though locals will hand line for small reef type fishes.

Kayaks- are available for use from Village Apartments as well as a vendor on Lower Bay. Explore the harbor area or kayak to one or the nearby beaches.

Music-  In season you may find local musicians performing at one of the beach bars. In January the Bequia Music Fest is held at at locations around the island and is an event not to be missed.  See Bequia This Week for weekly events around the island. Almost every night live music is available at one or more restaurants around the island.

Limin'-  Liming means to relax. Sit and visit with a new found friend, relax with a good book, or just enjoy the warm waters and sunshine. Stargaze the clear skies at night and just recharge your system. You deserve it and the Village Apartments are the place to do it.
